Predjama Castle in Slovenia
Predjamski Castle (Predjamski grad) is one of the oldest and most famous castles Slovenia. It is located about 10 km from the city of Postojna. The medieval castle is built into a rock (123 m high), which served as the basic element of the supporting structure. The castle covers the entrance to a giant cave, the name translates as Pre-Cave. Not far from the town of Postojna there is an amazing castle, which is a symbol of Slovenia. The castle covers the entrance to a huge cave, so the name of the castle literally translates from the Slovenian language as "Presherny". The harsh castle of the early Middle Ages, actually fused with the rock solid rock at an altitude of 123 meters, was intended primarily for defensive purposes.
