Lake Bled and St. Mary's Church in Slovenia
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a temple that gives charm to a popular Slovenian holiday destination — the ski and balneological resort of Bled, located on the shores of the lake of the same name.
The church is located on an island in the middle of the lake. The four altars of the church are decorated with frescoes and decorated with black marble. A staircase of 99 steps leads to the temple itself. Since the church is a popular wedding venue, there is also a certain tradition around this staircase: the groom must carry the bride along it in his arms as a sign of his readiness for family life.
You can get to the island by "pletnas" — local boats.
