For many guests of the Dominican Republic, El Conde shopping street in Santo Domingo is the main destination of the trip. This is a pedestrian street connecting Independence Park with Colon Park, along the entire length of which there are shops, boutiques and cafes.
Here you can buy anything from local souvenirs to clothes from European fashion houses. It is here that the main Dominican souvenirs are sold: cigars and rum, as well as local amber and larimar.
Shopping on Calle El Conde can be combined with a cultural program. Fort Concepcion is located next to the shopping street, as well as the "Gate of Compassion" – a landmark place for every Dominican, where the independence of the Dominican Republic was proclaimed in 1844.
