Construction of the first air taxi station has begun in Dubai
Dubai has begun construction of the first air taxi station, which will be located near Dubai International Airport (DXB). Aiming to become the first city in the world with regular urban air transport, the emirate authorities plan to open several stations, at the first stage — in the first quarter of 2026. It is expected that air taxi stations will appear at the airport, at Dubai Marina and at Palm Jumeirah.
The largest station, Vertiport, will be located next to the airport and will occupy an area of 3,100 sq. m. It will be able to serve up to 170,000 passengers annually, offering landing and take-off platforms, as well as parking spaces for air taxis.
Taxis will be represented by electric vehicles with vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) designed for four passengers. The flight by air taxi from DXB to Palm Jumeirah will take 12 minutes — compared to 45 minutes by car. The flight from Dubai to Abu Dhabi will take about 30 minutes, whereas by car the trip during rush hour takes almost two hours.
