From the beginning of this year to the end of November, Greece set a new record in the field of "golden visas", accepting an amazing 7,752 applications. This impressive number exceeded last year's figure by as much as 78%, which makes the Greek program the most in demand among similar schemes around the world in 2023. But what makes so many investors pay attention to Greece?

Since the introduction of changes to the rules of the program, over the past four months, more than 2,866 investors have applied for a "golden visa", which is an average of 717 applications per month. This increase of 65% compared to the same period in 2022 indicates sustained interest, despite changes in conditions.

However, despite the impressive volume of applications, the Greek authorities are actively working to reduce the waiting time. The last month of November turned out to be the first month when the number of pending applications decreased, dropping from 27,512 to 27,045. However, the situation with the approval of applications from the main applicants remains questionable.

As for the geography of investors, this year the most active group was the Chinese, who submitted more than 2,000 applications. They are followed by Turks, Lebanese, Iranians, Americans and Egyptians. But it is worth noting that the number of valid "golden visas" for Russian citizens has decreased slightly.

Among the nearly 15,000 main applicants currently under consideration, 58% are Chinese, 7% are Turks, and 5% each are Russians and Lebanese. This only highlights the global appeal of Greece's program.
