Sharjah police have stopped the smuggling of gold worth one million dirhams
On the night of February 1-2, 2024, the Sharjah police successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle gold worth more than one million dirhams, chasing criminals and recovering stolen jewelry. The crime was committed in a quiet shop in Khorfakkan, where daring robbers entered in the dead of night.
As soon as the police received information about the theft, the operations department immediately went to the crime scene. Thanks to the quick response and professionalism of the staff, a special group was formed, which began collecting evidence and investigating. Shortly after the operation began, it was possible to identify the perpetrators of the scam.
Once on the trail of the gang, the police found the stolen jewelry in a container at the port, where the criminals were clearly preparing for their illegal export from the country. The total value of the stolen jewelry exceeded one million dirhams.
After the arrest of the attackers, the police referred the case to the prosecutor's office for further action. It is important to note that prompt intervention and success in this case underline the effectiveness of law enforcement agencies in maintaining security and combating crime.
Sharjah Police also appealed to business owners to ensure the reliability and safety of their stores by installing modern video surveillance systems and taking precautions. They also called on individuals and entrepreneurs not to hesitate to report such incidents by calling the emergency number 999.
This case highlights the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and society in order to ensure the safety of citizens and combat crime. Such operations are designed to ensure stability and security in the region, which is important to maintain the UAE's reputation as a safe and attractive tourist destination.
It is worth recalling the case last year. At the end of last year, an Indian tourist in Dubai decided to smuggle out two gold capsules worth 222 thousand dirhams. After successfully passing through customs and airport control, unfortunately, he became the victim of a robbery by two unknown men who introduced themselves as employees of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS).
After the incident, the man contacted the police, saying that he flew to Dubai at the request of his friend in order to smuggle gold. The investigation is taking into account the delay due to the applicant's fear of contacting the authorities.
These events highlight the importance of vigilance and active participation of society in crime prevention.
