In the Gulf of Corinth, there is a particularly acute problem with purple jellyfish, which are called Pelagia noctiluca in science. A large number of jellyfish from the Chrysaora hysoscella population have also been found in the Evian and Saronic Gulf.
Jellyfish are also found on the beaches of Aliques in Kato Achaia, in Karavos, in Nea Peramos, in Aliki in Viotia, on Livadostras beach in Viotia, on Saranti beach in Viotia, on Plaix Beach in Volos, on Oropu beach, in Agia Apostoloi, at the reservoirs of Elefsina, on the beach of Stafilo Skopelos, Marathonas, Psata, Antipaxos, Salamis (Gulf of Elefsis), Kunupelaki, Alepochori, Vasilika beach (Salamis) and Halikuna in Corfu.
In August, jellyfish were also recorded in Alimos and Nea Paralia in Thessaloniki.
