The entry into force of the law on "tourist rentals" in Turkey has been postponed
The entry into force of a new law on "tourist rental" of housing has been postponed in Turkey. It was planned that new rules aimed at regulating the rental housing market and combating tax evasion would come into force on January 1, 2024. However, the sudden decision to postpone the entry into force of the law for a year caused excitement among interested parties.
The move was announced at the last moment, citing the difficulties faced by rental business owners in connection with zoning legislation. The official statement stressed the need to provide additional time to prepare for the changes.
According to the previous plan, the new rules were supposed to help regulate the rental market, where more and more people prefer to rent out their homes through popular services such as AirBnB. The law also provided for strengthening control over rental prices and combating tax evasion, which became relevant in light of the growing popularity of rental services.
The postponement of the entry into force of the law has raised some questions, in particular, about those who have already received fines for alleged violations, and how they will be taken into account after the introduction of new rules. Nevertheless, official statements state that such cases are minimal, and owners are given enough time to correct the identified shortcomings.
The decision to postpone the entry into force of the law is expected to be officially announced in the Turkish National Assembly in the coming days, which will allow all interested parties to better prepare and adapt to the upcoming changes.
