A morgue for 400 bodies has been prepared in Valencia
The military Emergency Department in Spain announced the expansion of the morgue in Valencia due to floods, which led to numerous casualties. According to the head of the unit, Javier Marcos, the previous morgue with a capacity of 100 beds turned out to be insufficient, so a new one was created, designed for 400 bodies. The latest figures show 218 dead, most of them in Valencia, and there are also victims in Castile-la Mancha and Andalusia.
Marcos added that by Monday evening, another 7,800 troops will be sent to the most affected areas to provide assistance and eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
The disaster affected not only Valencia, but also Barcelona, where El Prat airport was flooded due to heavy rains. The management company Aena reports the cancellation of 70 flights and the inability to land for 17 aircraft. Water entered the interior, especially in Terminal T1 and in the parking lot, which led to serious disruptions to the airport.
