Turkey has banned the purchase of land to obtain citizenship
It is becoming increasingly difficult to get coveted passports for the purchase of real estate.
What happened? The Turkish Government has published amendments to the guide on amendments regarding the application of the Turkish Citizenship Law. Decision 7938 is published in the Bulletin of the Government.
Details. The new text of the law again corrects the rules for obtaining citizenship and comes into force immediately, without a transition period.
The new version of the rules cancels the possibility of buying land without a building permit to obtain Turkish citizenship.
The prospects. According to local realtors, these innovations will not have a significant impact on the real estate market because customers do not choose the option of buying land without the right to build to obtain citizenship.
What else? Starting in January 2024, Turkey also plans to raise the investment threshold for obtaining a passport from $400,000 to $600,000. However, to date, there is no official text of the law or published confirmations of this information.
