The Spaniards are vigorously fighting the payoffs: Positive changes in the protection of homeowners

Spain, December 8 - News about a decrease in the number of cases of self-occupation of housing in Spain pleases not only local residents, but also tourists visiting this magnificent country. According to a report by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), 10,345 squatting cases were registered between January and August this year, which is 11% less than a year earlier.

This positive change reflects the efforts of the Spanish authorities in combating the problem of housing recoupment. In particular, regions of the country such as Catalonia, Andalusia, Valencia and Madrid have shown a marked decrease in cases of self-interception. For example, there was a significant decline in the Valencian region (-21%), which indicates effective measures taken at the local level.

The majority of squatting cases are still recorded in Catalonia, where 40% of the total number of cases have been registered. However, thanks to enhanced control measures, even this region showed a decrease of 14%. Andalusia and Madrid are also following this trend with declines of 6% and 1% respectively.

As a result, tourists visiting these regions can feel safer and more comfortable knowing that the level of self-ownership of real estate is decreasing. However, it should be noted that there has been a slight increase in squatting cases in the Canary Islands. This reminds us of the need for additional efforts to maintain control and security in all regions of the country.

One of the main problems that the Spanish authorities continue to solve is the slow and costly legal process of evicting the payoffs. Because of this complexity, some owners prefer to seek help from alternative methods, such as extra-judicial authorities, or even pay the invaders to avoid bureaucratic difficulties.

These positive changes in the fight against payoffs are important for tourists who choose Spain as their destination. The measures taken in the regions where tourist activity is highest ensure a level of safety and comfort for all visitors.
